On October 7, Tracy Gromniski, our Chief Product Officer and Partner, took the stage at the CAPI Exchange Conference in Ottawa. The Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute held its fourth annual conference at the National Arts Centre on October 6 and 7, under the theme “Canadian Agri-Food in a Value-Added World.” The session Tracy spoke in “AgTech Policy Pitches: Technology Meets Policy,” the first session of Day 2. The format is short and direct. Each presenter brings a technology that already works, names the regulatory, policy or implementation barrier that slows it down, and proposes a change that would clear the way. She shared the session with Daniel McCann of Precision AI, Colin Yates of VETSon and Dr. Kinneret Shefer of GeneNeer. Darrell Petras, CEO of the Canadian Agri-Food Automation and Intelligence Network (CAAIN), moderated. What Tracy presented Tracy opened with where we come from. Her first slide read “We know the operation because we have worked in it.” For her that is personal. She grew up on a dairy farm in Manitoba and later owned and ran a broiler breeder farm, where her technology career began. Her main slide: every unclear requirement becomes a cost. The slide traced the chain. Ambiguity leads to custom work, custom work leads to higher costs, and higher costs make expansion harder. Underneath it sat one line: “A builder pays for ambiguity twice.” “Every unclear requirement becomes a cost.” Tracy’s pitch at CAPI Exchange 2026. Tracy on stage with the AgTech Policy Pitches panel.
