A little about mode40

We like solving the problems that make people say, “There has to be a better way.”

mode40 is a Canadian software and services company headquartered in Steinbach, Manitoba. Our mission is straightforward: Turn Data into Profit.

Our platform, the Singularity, connects operational data, workflows, and AI capabilities to help organizations make better decisions and get work done. We back it with strategy, integration, implementation, and ongoing support.

Our roots are in manufacturing and operations. Today, our work extends across food and beverage, aerospace and defence, healthcare, education, and the public sector.

Where you come in

You’re the person who hears “that’s how we’ve always done it” and wants to understand why.

We’re looking for a Senior Business Analyst who can get to the heart of a business problem, bring people into the conversation, and turn what they learn into a clear path forward.

You’ll work directly with customers and our product, development, and implementation teams. You’ll ask questions, observe how work happens, untangle competing priorities, and help shape solutions that make sense for the people using them.

Good documentation matters. So does knowing whether the solution actually improved anything. You’ll stay connected from discovery through delivery to help make that happen.

What you’ll work on

  • Lead discovery workshops, stakeholder interviews, and operational process reviews.
  • Understand how work happens, including the exceptions and workarounds that rarely make it into a procedure.
  • Map current and future processes, business rules, data flows, and system dependencies.
  • Translate findings into clear requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Help customers prioritize based on value, effort, risk, and readiness for change.
  • Identify where existing platform capabilities and configuration meet the need, and where development is justified.
  • Work with technical teams on solution design, integrations, and data requirements.
  • Keep scope, decisions, assumptions, and dependencies clear as projects evolve.
  • Plan and support user acceptance testing, resolve gaps, and validate outcomes.
  • Support training, implementation readiness, and handover.
  • Raise concerns early and bring recommendations for moving forward.

What you bring

  • At least 8 years of professional business analysis experience.
  • Experience leading analysis for complex software implementations or business transformation projects.
  • Strong facilitation skills and the ability to work with frontline users, technical teams, and senior leaders.
  • The ability to turn ambiguous or conflicting needs into actionable requirements.
  • Experience with process mapping, user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability.
  • A working understanding of enterprise applications, databases, APIs, and integrations.
  • Experience supporting user acceptance testing and implementation.
  • The confidence to challenge assumptions respectfully and help people reach decisions.
  • Sound judgment about business value, delivery effort, scope, and ongoing support.
  • The ability to keep multiple priorities moving and follow through on commitments.

A few things that would be handy: Consulting experience, enterprise software implementations, operational improvement, AI and automation projects, SQL, or experience in the industries we serve. CBAP, PMI-PBA, or a related certification is welcome.

How we work

Curiosity matters here. So does listening to the person doing the work before deciding how to improve it.

You’ll have access to the people you need and room to use your judgment. We expect you to take initiative, share what you know, and speak up when something doesn’t add up.

We value candid feedback, practical ideas, and teammates who can disagree respectfully and keep working toward a solution. A sense of humour helps when a “simple process” turns out to involve six spreadsheets and one person who knows how they all connect.

We care about doing good work and having a life outside it. When workload or priorities stop making sense, we expect an honest conversation.

Location and work eligibility

Candidates must reside in Canada and be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Work arrangement: Remote
Employment type: Full Time Permanent
